Acrostics Relaunch – 25,000 New Puzzles

It’s been nearly three years in the making, but we’ve finally relaunched (and vastly improved) our Acrostics site at www.acrostics.org.

Sorry it took so long!  We didn’t want to relaunch until we had a critical mass of new puzzles ready to be unveiled, and unfortunately creating and cluing those puzzles took a LONG time.  I mean, REALLY long.  But it’s finally here… so, what’s new?

1.  New Puzzles – Sure, we added 25,000 new puzzles, but what’s even better, is that we’ve now made them all into proper “acrostic” puzzles.  In other words, the first letter of each clue answer, when read in order from first to last, will now reveal the author and/or source of the hidden quote.

2.  Competitive Play – Monthly competitions and fully functional user accounts are now installed.  Statistics are tracked for each user and each puzzle, and a running tally of record times are kept.

3.  Improved Gameplay and Hints – We’ve dramatically improved the gameplay board itself, to allow easier/faster letter entry as well as keyboard-level navigation using arrow keys to move around the grid.  And if you get stuck on a puzzle you can now request up to 5 sets of hints – though be warned, each hint you request will add three minutes to your final time!
